Who we are

Formed on March 8, 2000, Environmental Solutions & Innovations, Inc. is a woman-owned firm comprised of professional ecological scientists dedicated to providing the highest quality standards of environmental consulting services

Our scientists have specialized expertise in ornithology, herpetology, mammalogy, ichthyology, malacology, entomology, plant taxonomy, wetland science and GIS. Most of our staff hold advanced degrees in their area of specialty and are respected members of the scientific community. With project owner permission, we regularly publish the results of our field studies (without disclosing the client or project name) in PEER REVIEWED JOURNALS, ensuring that our technical qualifications meet current scientific and academic standards. ESI is unique in that we have not only the expertise to execute field surveys to agency standards, we frame results in scientifically defensible technical report that expertly addresses the ecological and regulatory factors that elicit the survey.

Dr. Virgil Brack, Jr. leads our technical team as ESI's principal scientist. He received his Ph.D. in Wildlife Ecology from Purdue University in 1983 and has been working in the environmental consulting field since. His career began as a "field" biologist and his many achievements include earning his MBA from Xavier University in 1998 and becoming Senior Vice President for the environmental group of an international architecture and engineering firm before starting ESI. Dr. Brack has worked extensively with the Endangered Species Act (ESA). He is a well-published, well-recognized authority on bats and is currently a member of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) sponsored Recovery Team for the federally endangered Indiana bat.
