Aquatic EcoloGY ServicesESI offers comprehensive aquatic biological assessment services in support of resource management inventories and regulatory compliance, including the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and Clean Water Act (CWA). We complete aquatic studies to support a variety of types of projects including dredging, pipeline and roadway construction, and mining. ESI’s aquatics team is composed of a diverse group of biologists with specialties ranging from specific taxa like crayfish, aquatic insects or mussels, to water quality and fisheries. We work in a variety of aquatic habitats ranging from creeks to “Big Rivers” like the Ohio, New, and Kanawha. We are experienced with many field techniques: habitat assessment, seining, electrofishing (boat and backpack), trawling, water quality sampling, benthic macroinvertebrate sampling, pebble counts (and other substrate classification methods), Rapid Bioassessment Protocol, Rosgen Classifications, GPS (handheld and depth sounders), and underwater photography and video. We hold various federal and state scientific and endangered species collection permits for crayfish, mussels, fish, and macroinvertebrates. For detailed survey descriptions, click on the
