Adam Mann completed his Bachelor’s degree in biology from Thomas More College and a Master’s degree (in biology) from Marshall University.  Adam’s graduate studies focused on herpetofauna; however, he also gained practical field experience with birds, fishes, and mussels.  Since joining ESI, Adam gained substantial experience with bats.

Adam’s zoological experience includes herpetology, ornithology, ichthyology, and mammalogy, predominantly in West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and New York.  He is experienced with many ecological field techniques: identification of terrestrial and aquatic vertebrates and invertebrates by sight or sound, habitat assessment, trapping (pitfall, funnel, snake, mammal, harp), netting (hoop, gill, mist, fyke), seining, electro-fishing (boat and backpack), mark-recapture methods, radio-telemetry and tracking, AnaBat sampling and analysis, GPS/GIS, Trimble GPS system, mapping and orientation, water quality sampling and testing, snorkeling, and SCUBA diving.

Adam is ESI’s Group Manager and is directly responsible for ESI’s technical staff.  He oversees the company-wide field season schedule to ensure appropriate allocation of resources within and among projects, including maximizing efficiency and cost effectiveness for our Clients.  Adam functions as a Project Manager on larger, more complex projects and mentors junior staff in their professional development.

Adam is an experienced public speaker, having taught scientific laboratories in a classroom setting and given educational lectures to the public on wildlife and conservation.  His personal interests include conservation and captive care of native reptiles and amphibians, web design, herpetological research, and wildlife photography.  He participates in scientific writing, and has co-authored numerous technical reports and papers in support of ESA, NEPA, and various permit applications..
